Ski area Stubaital

Something for everyone

The Stubai Valley, also known simply as the Stubai, is the picturesque main valley of the Stubai Alps. Located in Tyrol in Austria, it runs from the main Alpine ridge almost as far as Innsbruck. The region consists of the five villages of Telfes, Mieders, Fulpmes, Neustift and Schönberg.

The Stubai Valley is primarily known as a popular tourist destination for hikers and winter sports enthusiasts: flanked by white peaks and imposing mountain ranges, it lies in the heart of the Alps. No wonder the region attracts both active holidaymakers and those seeking peace and quiet all year round.

In winter, the Stubai Valley is perfect for many skiers and cross-country skiers due to its proximity to the main Alpine ridge; in summer, the Stubai High Trail in particular attracts experienced mountain hikers past alpine pastures, glaciers, mountain lakes and waterfalls up to an altitude of 3,000 meters.

Of the four ski areas in the Stubai Valley, the Stubai Glacier is probably the best known – not least because it is Austria’s largest glacier ski area. Snow is guaranteed here from October to June. Whether tobogganing, skiing, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing: The region offers numerous winter activities.

In addition to the Stubai Glacier, winter sports enthusiasts can also get active in the other ski areas Elferlifte, Schlick 2000 and Serlesbahnen. Imposing glaciers, freshly groomed slopes and white mountain peaks provide countless skiers with unforgettable skiing moments every year.

Whether beginner or pro, piste skier or freerider: the Stubaital has the right descent for every taste. There are numerous winter opportunities to discover the nature, people and culture of this special region. Sporting fun, traditional cuisine and warm hospitality promise an exciting vacation.

But the Stubai Valley is not only worth a visit in the ski season, but also in summer. Many snack stations, eight Alpine Club huts and numerous themed hiking trails make the region the ideal vacation destination for hikers. From tranquil to breathtaking, everything is included, so that both active vacationers and those seeking peace and quiet get their money’s worth.

There are also plenty of opportunities for those looking for a change from everyday sporting activities in the Stubai Valley, as there are interesting places to discover. Numerous museums, places of historical significance and important buildings can be the destination of an excursion to the region.

Whether it’s the local history museum in Neustift, the bird of prey park in Telfes or the blacksmith museum in Fulpmes: in the Stubaital, holidaymakers can be sure that there is something of interest for everyone. Many sights tell of the long tradition and old way of life of the Tyrolean valley.

Thanks to its central location, the Stubai Valley is the ideal starting point for discovering Tyrol’s sights. Buildings such as the Goethe Chapel, the stations of the Stubai Valley Railway or the Europe Chapel impress with their centuries-old architecture.

Authentic historical sites such as the Mint Tower in Hall, Kufstein Fortress and the silver mine in Schwaz also convey a piece of Tyrolean history in an exciting and interactive way. Those interested in culture will get their money’s worth in Innsbruck with a diverse range of concerts and events.
